Munich, 22 June 2022. Gini, a leading company for data extraction from documents, has now released an OCR update for its popular AI-driven remittance feature, “Photo Payment”. The fully self-developed OCR (“Optical Character Recognition”) is used to convert image documents such as scans, PDF files, or photos into machine-readable text. The update has already been rolled out in full to all Gini customers, a large number of renowned German banks, including Deutsche Bank, ING, HVB, and DKB.
The company’s new OCR accelerates the photo payments executed by the customers in their banking apps by 38 percent, while the extraction quality increases even more. The many advantages of Gini’s OCR lead to a significantly improved user experience for mobile banking users.
From the ideal photo capturing through image correction and optimal text recognition to data extraction, Gini uses a highly specialized, self-developed technology stack for the entire processing path. It is entirely based on artificial intelligence and gets further trained by millionfold usage through the processing line. This technology makes Gini the leader in mobile document capture and recognition, saving users in May already 192,000 minutes – or 3,208 hours resp. 133 days – on 5.3 million processed documents.
Easy payment – with Gini Pay Photo Payment
Customers simply pay the invoice amount via smartphone photo, recognition via QR code with payment information, or direct sharing of a digital document with the banking app. The Gini Pay Photo Payment extracts the required information, such as IBAN or amount to pay from the document, and the transfer mask is filled in automatically. The user then only has to approve the transfer.
“Gini is a specialist in AI solutions with a focus on mobile applications that magically simplify people’s lives. We are proud of our self-developed OCR, which is a unique and technologically leading solution in this field due to its technological capabilities and in combination with AI for image correction.”
