- E-commerce benefits with the integration of Gini QR Code Payment
- 44 million customers in Germany can use the payment solution via a banking app
Munich, 13 May 2025. Gini, provider of innovative payment solutions, is redesigning payment in e-commerce and simplifying advanced payment with its Gini QR Code Payment solution. The Munich-based fintech offers e-commerce merchants a free payment alternative to other payment providers. After just two months, more than 100 retailers are already using it and a further 100 have registered. This enables them to offer their customers a particularly simple shopping experience via SEPA credit transfer. The basic version of Gini QR Code Payment will remain free of charge for merchants and customers.
The solution shows customers a QR code generated in real time at the checkout. This QR code appears either in the advance payment, invoice purchase, or a separate “Scan & Pay” payment method.
The QR code can be easily scanned with all common banking apps, so the buyer only needs to trigger a SEPA transfer. For the payment process, an EPC QR code is generated live and automatically recognised via the respective banking app’s photo function.
The advantage: both retailers and customers receive immediate status feedback in the shop, turning the classic asynchronous advance payment into a ‘Pay Now’ solution. Invoices or payment requests can also be supported in this way.
The Gini QR Code Payment solution is available to 44 million people; that is, 44 million people in Germany use a banking app with which they can pay via QR code.
Gini QR Code Payment offers merchants many advantages
Merchants can register for the integration of Gini QR Code Payment in just two minutes. They log in, install the plugin in the shop, and get started – without any complicated KYC/KYB checks. The process is quicker than usual, as registrations with other payment providers often require time-consuming checks and the submission of documents.
Whether web, iOS or Android, ready-made software development kits (SDKs) enable easy integration and customisation to the design – even of the existing e-commerce app, for example. Gini QR Code Payment also reduces payment costs, as the improved user experience increases the proportion of prepayment in the checkout and enables fast payment receipts. Gini’s solution also improves payment reconciliation: the QR code prevents errors, such as when payment details, such as IBAN or reference number, are entered manually.
Gini also enables tracking by capturing channel information.
Customers also benefit from Gini’s solution
The payment method is quick and easy for shoppers to use; there is no need for the inconvenient manual entry of bank transfer details. It is available to a large number of end customers, as over 90 per cent have at least one account and a banking app that supports the method. The solution is also secure: the real-time generation of the QR code with the payment data at the checkout prevents fraud through quishing.
Gini QR Code Payment also works with mobile shopping thanks to the QR code download function and direct app connection (feature under development).
Seamless integration into JTL and Shopware shop systems is already possible, with more to follow.
“The interest in our product is enormous. It shows that retailers are looking for a user-friendly and affordable alternative right now,” says Martin Meinert, Director E-Commerce at Gini. “We offer a real alternative to existing payment methods in e-commerce, but without the usual registration effort. By combining established methods and technologies and adding new features, we are fundamentally changing the payment landscape and taking good old prepayment to a whole new level.”
“With our new Gini QR Code Payment solution, we are expanding our portfolio in the area of payment,” says Alexander Jäger, CEO of Gini GmbH. “E-commerce is an important industry sector in which payment with the banking app should be simple and cost-effective. This allows consumers to pay quickly and confidently without third-party providers – and also support online retailers.”
