Who we are - the Gini Community

Founded in 2011 Gini is a well-established award-winning FinTech company disrupting the banking, e-commerce, and insurance sector. Our most well-known product is our Gini photo payment software assistant, which is integrated into over 90% of German banking apps. With this and other products, we aim to improve everyone's quality of life by simplifying tedious tasks through automation. What’s special about us: We place a high value on autonomy, which we integrate into our daily work life with flat hierarchies. We have four core values that are essential to our collaboration at Gini: Excellence, Opportunities rather than Risks, Love, and Commitment & Responsibility. You can find more details about our values and the way we work together at Gini in our handbook.

We are very proud to have received several awards in recent years, including "Top Employer 2020" from Focus, "Financial Product of the Year 2022," and "Top Company" from kununu for 2023, 2024, and 2025.

We’re looking for a Head of Product (f/m/d) to lead our Insurance and E-Commerce segment. In this role, you’ll take strategic and operational ownership of our digital products along the entire customer journey – with a particular focus on smart, integrated payment solutions. Together with a passionate and cross-functional team, you’ll shape innovative products that create real value for insurers, merchants, and end users. You combine strong user focus, technical understanding, and leadership skills – with a clear eye on impact, scalability, and sustainable growth.

Your playing field at Gini

  • Idea Validation:  You engage early with insurers, merchants, and users to test product ideas, gather feedback, and ensure product-market fit – before development even begins
  • Stakeholder Management: You align internal teams (e.g. engineering, design, QA) and external partners (e.g. merchants, insurers) around a shared product vision, scope, and priorities
  • Backlog Ownership: You maintain a well-structured product backlog: writing and refining user stories, prioritizing based on user value, technical feasibility, and strategic goals
  • Agile Process Leadership: You lead or support agile ceremonies like daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives – keeping the team focused and unblocked
  • Coordination of External Contributors: You manage freelancers and agencies working on SDKs, plugins, or portals – providing clear direction, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring timelines are met
  • Budget Responsibility: You ensure product development stays within budget and proactively communicate any risks or constraints

Skills to be successfull

  • You have proven leadership experience in a product role – ideally with responsibility for small, growing teams and cross-product strategy
  • You have a deep understanding of digital products in the e-commerce or insurance space – and know the specific needs of these industries
  • You feel confident navigating complex cross-team dependencies – such as shared backend teams or centralized platform responsibilities
  • You bring a strong user-first mindset – and base your decisions on both qualitative insights and quantitative data
  • You communicate clearly and in a structured way – tailored to your audience, internally and externally, even on technical or complex topics
  • You’re passionate about well-structured backlogs, clearly defined quality standards, and efficient product processes
  • You speak German and English fluently (minimum C1 level) – and can communicate effectively in both languages
