Munich, July 12, 2021. Gini, a leading company for data extraction from documents and known for the photo transfer, now has two new certifications awarded by the Bundesverband IT-Mittelstand e.V.: Software Hosted in Germany and Software Made in Germany. The BITMi e.V. is the representative body for IT SMEs in Germany and the IT trade association that exclusively represents SME interests.

Meeting important security and user criteria

The “Software Hosted in Germany” seal of approval testifies to security and trust in German law and is intended for manufacturers of software that deliver usable online solutions that are explicitly secure.

To qualify for the seal, the software manufacturer must meet several decisive criteria, including hosting software and data in a data center in Germany. Both software and data must also not leave Germany unless the client requires it. In addition, German law and data protection law must apply to the hosting contract. Gini meets both criteria by operating its own data center in Germany.

The “Software Made in Germany” certification also needs to meet various requirements that the manufacturer must guarantee. On the one hand, this relates to service: if there are questions about the product, there must be a German-speaking contact person. Sales, service, and training partners need to be available locally, and hotline numbers required to be answered by German-speaking personnel. On the other hand, software designed in Germany also needs to be tested in Germany, and program interfaces and instructions are multilingual or in German.

It is also crucial that the software is future-proof. The compatibility of code and data needs to be safe for the future, and further support of the software has to be contractually guaranteed.

»Being awarded the two certifications Software Hosted in Germany and Software Made in Germany, we prove once again to develop secure and user-optimized solutions,” says Holger Teske, Co-Founder and CEO of Gini. “It’s our mission to enable magical moments for users, resulting in easing of everyday life. In doing so, we have a high demand for data protection and security in our solutions and implement consistently.«
